Saudi Vision 2030

Patrizia Stella is a leading expert in architectural and urban lighting design, adopting a multi-level, integrated approach that treats each environment as a dynamic and interconnected organism.

With a deep passion for light, Patrizia Stella has dedicated her entire career to lighting design, blending creative vision with scientific research. After graduating as an Architect and Urban Planner from the University of Chieti, and furthering her studies at the University of Toronto, she began her professional journey with a thesis that long anticipated the crucial role of lighting strategies in urban contexts.

Her career has been driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence. Two key milestones have defined her path:

Co-founder and President of AILD (Italian Association of Lighting Designers), where she played a pivotal role in collaborating with UNI (Italian Standardization Body) to gain formal recognition for the role of the Lighting Designer in Italy.

Through her design brand PHOTONIKA, she has led highly praised lighting projects for the Saudi Arabian government, including iconic heritage locations such as the Al Basta District and Rijal Alma in Asir, within the Vision 2030 program. These projects highlight her ability to harness the transformative power of light in harmony with a site’s cultural heritage and always a glance to a futuristic perspective.

On the scientific side, Patrizia has developed an innovative lighting system, still undisclosed publicly, that integrates biological principles with the latest technological advancements. This system aims to create a true biophilic lighting environment in any context of human life, and it is currently being discussed with international companies and funding organizations for its release on the market.

She is currently engaged in pioneering research on the interaction between light and water, potentially revolutionizing the way we perceive and experience light.
